Support Groups around the country are working with FMA UK to raise awareness through various means. Anything from broadcasting on community radio to organising a coffee morning and inviting the local MP along, as well as tombola's and having awareness stands in a shopping mall.
Awareness Week 2008 is between the 8th and 14th of September and in the following section you can check what's going on around the country. If you know of anything that should be added here then please let us know using this form.
Fibromyalgia Awareness Week was the brainchild of our late chairman Bob Stewart in 2002. Bob wanted an event that was unique to FMA UK as there was already an International Awareness Day on 12th May. Since then other organisations have adopted this week to raise awareness of fibromyalgia. Bob would have welcomed this ‘working together’ approach.Highlights

If your Health Care Professional needs some education in fibromyalgia you can request that an FMA UK Health Professionals Pack is sent out to them. All we need is the name of the Health CareProfessional and the address of their practice. We will then send a pack to their surgery addressed from us to them.

You can find a Support Group near you by contacting the Regional Coordinator for your area. If there does not happen to be a support group near you then maybe you can join with some other members and set one up. Support groups provide a social benefit as well as the opportunity to share tips on coping with fibro. They come in all shapes and sizes and we are often told how they have helped people.
