My name is Brian Barr. I have been working as a solicitor for over 30 years, mainly in the areas of personal injury, insurance claims and professional negligence (claims against solicitors, accountants, architects etc).
About 15 years ago I acted for a Fibromyalgia sufferer in an accident claim. It opened my eyes to the seriousness of the condition. She was in a very bad way and we won a settlement of £1.25 million for her. That was my first case and I have carried on doing cases for Fibromyalgia sufferers ever since.
At that time I was a partner in a firm of Solicitors. Over nine years ago I opened up my own firm. We are handily placed on the edge of Manchester City Centre, near to the motorways and with parking in front of our offices. The firm has grown and our Solicitors, including myself, specialise in looking after the needs of fibromyalgia sufferers throughout England and Wales.
Claims come in all shapes and sizes, but most frequently will be for people who have been injured in an accident which has either triggered off fibromyalgia or made it worse. We also assist sufferers with claims under Critical Illness Policies or Permanent Health Insurance Policies. They, typically, will need to show that more probably than not, they will not be able to work again. We also receive instructions from people seeking ill-health early retirement pensions from their employers. Because of the seriousness of their fibromyalgia (and possibly other conditions) they are unlikely to work again.
As well as acting in cases involving fibromyalgia, the firm are happy to act for family members or friends who suffer any type of accident or who are victims of medical or professional negligence.
