Follypogs 4th Fibromyalgia Conference

With three successful southeast Fibromyalgia Conferences behind us and rave reviews last Easter, the FibCon team are now planning another memorable weekend in 2013 for April 26/29 2013.

While the Easter weekend was a huge success some folks with family commitments urged us to avoid Easter for the next one. In 2013 we will avoid Easter and the school holidays and we already have promises from overseas speakers.

Following the success of the Andrew Holman lecture in July at the Chichester Park hotel we have invited our well known researcher to come back next April with an update on his PC3 MRi scan project for the UK.

The humourous Canadian Dr Kevin White, the fibro fog expert, will be back again with more news and a cabaret spot with a guitar and a ukulele band. Delegates who play guitar or the ukulele will be invited to join on a ‘jam session’.

It is hoped Dr Hal Blatman, the USA myofascial expert will make it next time, and we are in negotiation with several consultants and professors in the UK including Dr Mark Cropley from Surrey University, a sleep expert; Dr Gary Lee, Pain Consultant for Long Term Conditions and researcher Southampton University; Prof. Kevin Davies, Brighton & Sussex Medical School, specialist in Lupus and Immunologist. With the promise of wall-to-wall speakers – 6 daily lectures over two days and the return of the successful benefits presentation and forum, the 4th National Fibromyalgia Conference promises to be another great success.

On September 4th 2012 when the Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt was announced as the new Secretary of State for Health, your FibCon team seized the moment. We sent congratulations on his appointment with an invitation to come to our April conference. Fingers crossed. We wonder how much he knows about fibromyalgia but we will certainly help him to understand if he will spare the time for our fibromites.

But the weekend does not end with just education and the chance to get close up and personal with the speakers. We have a full programme of entertainment, gentle exercises, use of the warm swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, spa, exercise equipment plus the hotel offers pampering if required.

What is on offer – a memorable weekend at the Chichester Park Hotel where you will learn more about your FM condition. You can enjoy the comforts of a good hotel with optional soft or hard bed, TV, tea making facilities, and en suite facilities, full board, excellent food and service from unusually helpful staff.

We learn by day but enjoy fun and laughter in the evening. The weekend provides a full programme and you will be spoilt for choice. You learn so much it really is an opportunity not to be missed and certainly a memorable weekend. For partners with enough support and at an extra cost we are able to arrange deep sea fishing, pay as you play golf - 9 or 18 holes at Goodwood, and possibly some fly fishing yet to be arranged). We are happy to listen to suggestions.

To date we are expecting the Canadian Dr Kevin White, our fibro fog expert, to return with his good humour. We are hoping Dr Hal Blatman from the USA, a myofascial expert, will be with us. Celebrity researcher Dr Andrew Holman (USA) has been invited back to Chichester for the conference, following his successful lecture in July. Pain Consultant with an interest in long-term conditions and a researcher, Dr Gary Lee, from Southampton University, is making a welcome return with news of a new FM Clinic. It is thought this may be the first FM clinic this side of London. Professor Keith Davies, international lecturer and immunologist will we hope join us. Dr Mark Cropley, sleep specialist from Surrey University hopes to lecture. International researcher and lecturer Kim Lawson from Sheffield Hallam University, a favourite at the 2010 conference, is coming back.

The weekend Friday/Monday at £199 each person includes full board, accommodation and the conference and all that entails with exercises, use of hotel facilities and entertainment

There are no single rooms but the double room can be offered with a double bed, twin beds even 3 singles for friends. One person occupying a double room will attract a single supplement levied by the hotel in the sum of £50 extra. There are only a few of these rooms left. There are ground floor and 1st floor bedrooms but we encourage delegates to please book 1st floor unless they are unable to manage the stairs.

PAY ON THE WAY

In spite of the constantly ‘doom and gloom’ reminders by the Government, over a third of the rooms were booked before the delegates left the 2012 conference. Since announcing our stage payment plans we are now more than half full. So please book now and pay a deposit if you are serious about learning more about your FM and enjoying a great weekend with like-minded people.

We appreciate many fibromites live on a tight budget especially if they are limited by benefits. This is why we are flexible with pay plans, accepting post dated cheques, standing orders or even Paypal where you can use your credit card and pay off in your own time. This scheme does attract an additional Paypal service charge.

Folks are now accepting the offer of starting now by saving £8.25 a week - paid monthly - to ensure their fee is settled before the event arrives.
