John Speirs's runs for FMA UK

John Speirs is running a series of marathons and runs to support FMA UK work and to raise awareness of fibromyalgia because his wife, Lynn, lives with fibromyalgia. John raised over £300 so far and is training for the Edinburgh Marathon.

John told us about his challenges: ‘’I’ve nearly finished training for the Edinburgh Marathon. Highs and lows along the way but I’m nearly ready. I’ve been running 50 miles a week in training. Finding time to squeeze in a 20 mile run every Sunday has proved challenging but I found a way. So far I’ve raised £310 plus gift aid for FMA UK and hope to raise more over the coming weeks.

The most remarkable thing for me is just how many people I know who have read my story then told me that their wife/husband suffers from Fibromyalgia. This also comforts my wife to know that she isn’t alone in her daily struggle. My wife’s face at the weekend filled my heart with joy. Our 5 year old daughter learnt to cycle without stabilisers and I could see her very proud Mummy glowing with happiness and contentment. Fibromyalgia isn’t the end. Impossible is nothing!’’.
