FMA UK is a Charity of the Month at Can You Escape?

Lara Brown from Can You Escape? explains to us why and how the company is supporting FMA UK this March. ‘’We pick which charity to support based on suggestions from our staff, and Fibromyalgia Action UK was a popular choice. One of our Games Masters mentioned that a family member suffers from the condition and not enough research is being done to discover a cure, making it an obvious choice for one of our charities to support! Can You Escape? provides an escape room experience for teams of 2-16 people. Teams are locked in a room for 60 minutes and are faced with a series of clues, puzzles and challenges they must solve in order to beat the clock!
Since 2015, we've been running monthly 'Charity Challenges' - each team that comes to play our games is invited to pop few quid in our collection box to take part: escape our room with the fastest ever time to secure your place at the top of our leader board, and win the contents of the box. At the end of the month, if the prize hasn't been claimed then we donate the money to our chosen charity. Of course, our lovely teams usually choose to leave the money to be donated - last year, we raised just over £2500 for various charities and we hope to top that in 2017!

Our professionally printed Information pack on fibromyalgia can be found here to view. You will also receive a free copy on request. We also have a booklet for young people with fibromyalgia that you can obtain on request and will be on the website soon.

The charity is run by volunteers, most of whom have fibromyalgia.
If your Health Care Professional needs some education in fibromyalgia you can request that an FMA UK Health Professionals Pack is sent out to them. All we need is the name of the Health CareProfessional and the address of their practice. We will then send a pack to their surgery addressed from us to them.

You can find a Support Group near you by contacting the Regional Coordinator for your area. If there does not happen to be a support group near you then maybe you can join with some other members and set one up. Support groups provide a social benefit as well as the opportunity to share tips on coping with fibro. They come in all shapes and sizes and we are often told how they have helped people.
