Victoria Riches runs the Edinburgh Marathon for FMA UK

Victoria Riches told us why she will embark on this challenge: ‘’My mum has suffered and continues to suffer with this condition. I have decided to run the Edinburgh Marathon on the 29th May 2016, and try to raise some money for Fibromyalgia Action UK who help treat and support those who have been diagnosed with the debilitating condition. It's very hard to see what this condition does to my mum day by day, the fact that I am unable to help ease her pain in any way makes it a whole lot harder.
There are thousands around the country and the world who are going through the same thing. By doing the Edinburgh Marathon I hope this will raise awareness and much needed funds.
The fact that the majority of people that you could ask, " Do you know what Fibromyalgia is?" and they have no idea shows a lot that this is something that needs to be made aware to many people’’.

The charity is run by volunteers, most of whom have fibromyalgia.
If your Health Care Professional needs some education in fibromyalgia you can request that an FMA UK Health Professionals Pack is sent out to them. All we need is the name of the Health CareProfessional and the address of their practice. We will then send a pack to their surgery addressed from us to them.

You can find a Support Group near you by contacting the Regional Coordinator for your area. If there does not happen to be a support group near you then maybe you can join with some other members and set one up. Support groups provide a social benefit as well as the opportunity to share tips on coping with fibro. They come in all shapes and sizes and we are often told how they have helped people.
