Fibro has had a major impact on my life having to give up working and the financial impact this has had on our family. I have now been retired for almost 7 years.
I joined FMA in 2014. I volunteered through the FMA website and promptly forgot. What seemed like years later I kept getting phone calls from some lady down south and not knowing who it was I never answered. One day I was busy at the computer and never looked at the number, ten minutes later I was being put forward as Finance Director for FMA UK. Pa m Stewart, the FMA Chair at the time would not take no for an answer.
The rest as they say is history.
As FD or Treasurer, I am responsible for ensuring the Charity lives within its means. It’s quite easy as we have a great team of Trustees and Volunteers. I am married to Louise now for 34 years with two grown up daughters Gail and Lorna.

If your Health Care Professional needs some education in fibromyalgia you can request that an FMA UK Health Professionals Pack is sent out to them. All we need is the name of the Health CareProfessional and the address of their practice. We will then send a pack to their surgery addressed from us to them.

You can find a Support Group near you by contacting the Regional Coordinator for your area. If there does not happen to be a support group near you then maybe you can join with some other members and set one up. Support groups provide a social benefit as well as the opportunity to share tips on coping with fibro. They come in all shapes and sizes and we are often told how they have helped people.
