British London 10K Run 2013

The spotty dress races over Westminster Bridge with the Houses of Parliament in the background.

The British London 10k run is scheduled to take place on Sunday 14th July using much of the course for the Olympic marathons through central London.

FMA UK has places available in this prestigious event, giving an exciting opportunity to raise awareness of fibromyalgia as well as raising funds through sponsorship.

In 2011 I (Pam Stewart) decided to give this a go.  I had never done any long distance running before so didn’t commit to this until I knew I could manage it.  I downloaded a training programme which worked really well.  www.therunningbug.co.uk.  I surprised myself and increased my fitness considerably.

I now enjoy jogging (I wouldn’t call my speed running) and joined parkrun to do 5k each Saturday morning.  I actually managed a half marathon last year.

As you can see from the photograph there were many people walking the route especially towards the end and the only stipulation is that you aim to complete the 10k in 2 hours.

See the official website for details of the route, rules and timings http://www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk.

This year all entrants will have a timing tag, so you will have an accurate record of your time and will be able to download a photo like the one above showing your efforts.

If you feel you can contribute to this event or can persuade friends or family, please contact me for an application form (not the organisers) This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  There is no charge to you and we will complete your entry registration, send you a t-shirt and information leaflets for raising awareness.

You will be able to create a JustGiving page that takes all the hard work out of collecting any sponsorship money and us claiming Gift Aid.
