Spring is definitely on the way, the days are getting longer and the sun is starting to make more of an appearance. With the hope of ever increasing hours of sunshine it's time to start planning those summer vacations.

This month, two of our writers, Sally Mayor and Sally Dixon, share some travel stories and offer tips on how to make travelling with limited mobility uncomplicated and comfortable. Sally Dixon visits the Lake District and shows that with a bit of planning and determination, even this UK mountainous region is accessible and you can enjoy the stunning views and the wide range of cakes on offer.

Sally Mayor has taken the plunge and gone to New York to explore the hectic sights and sounds of this spectacular city. She reports on the welcome she received wherever she went and the bonus of queue jumping in a wheelchair.

Sally Dixon says: The Lake District was always my favourite childhood holiday destination, but since developing fibromyalgia and experiencing limited mobility, I have had concerns about coping with the hills and valleys of Cumbria. However, I was determined to have a holiday, so I set off with my sister Kirsty for a week of self-catering in Ambleside.

Fibromyalgia can be life changing, but you can never guess where those changes will take you. For David Bedford of Liverpool, they have taken him on a journey of discovery as his passion for the Beatles has led him to become a Paperback Writer. David has recently published a book entitled Liddypool: Birthplace of The Beatles and here he tells us about his exciting journey and offers you the chance to win a copy of his book.

David says: I lived in The Dingle until I was 24, two streets away from Admiral Grove where Ringo lived from the age of five. My wife Alix and I decided to move out to within half a mile of Penny Lane—yes, that Penny Lane. Our children—Philippa, Lauren and Ashleigh—have all attended Dovedale School where John Lennon and George Harrison attended. The Beatles have been a part of my life for a long time. After picking up my first guitar at 10 years old, a Beatles’ song book was purchased so I could learn my favourite tunes. They have always accompanied me on my own long and winding road.
