At a Group Leaders’ Meeting on January 27th 2001, the first Regional Co-ordinators were established to enable local groups to work together in a regional setting, sharing ideas and supporting each other. Initially appointed from volunteers, who agreed to start the ball rolling, three years later local support groups nominated their own candidates for these positions, with the intention of holding elections in another 3 years.

This year is another election year and we need to arrange for the election of co-ordinators in each region.  We have also decided that as the numbers of support groups have grown, we should try to have assistant co-ordinators in place for each region.  These may have particular responsibility for specific areas within the region or specific roles throughout the region according to need.

The regions are:

  • Scotland
  • North East Durham, Teeside, North Yorks, Tyne and Wear
  • North West Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancs, Merseyside and Wirral, Wales North.
  • Northern Ireland
  • Yorkshire and Humberside Derbyshire (north), East/West/North/South Yorks, Lincs,
  • Midlands Derbys,(south) Hereford and Worcs, Leics, Lincs, Notts, Northants, Shrops, Staffs, Warks, West Midlands
  • East Anglia Cambs, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk
  • London
  • South West Channel Isles, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Glos, Somerset, Wales South Wiltshire
  • South East regions
    • South East 1 - Beds, Herts
    • South East 2 - Berks, Bucks, Hants, Isle of Wight, Oxon
    • South East 3 - Kent
    • South East 4 - Surrey,Sussex
    • South East 5 - London,Middx

Volunteers can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else.

If you, or someone in your group, would like to be considered for this role, then please complete the Nomination Form below and return to the FMA UK office by 1st August 2010.

If more than one nomination is received, there will then be a regional ballot which will be organised by FMA UK.  Each group will then have one vote in this ballot to select the Regional Co-ordinator.

As the Regional Co-ordinators will be working closely with the Trustees of FMA UK; the nominee must also have approval by the FMA UK Board.
