ImageMargaret Robson, the Co-ordinator and Chair of the Fibromyalgia Support Group (Medway), has received a Kent County Council Award for Volunteering Excellence, not only for her work in setting up and running the Medway Support Group for the last six years, but also for over 30 years of volunteering.  There were almost 600 nominations for awards in various categories and only 24 winners.

The Award Ceremony was held at the Ramada Hotel in Hollingbourne, near Maidstone in Kent on the 23rd November 2008. Not only did Margaret receive an Award but she was also given £400 to donate to a Charity of her choice, which was, naturally, the Fibromyalgia Support Group (Medway) that has over 300 members.

Margaret is also the Regional Co-ordinator for Kent for FMA UK and has recently set up two other support groups in Thanet and Tonbridge, she plans to set up more in the New Year.  The voluntary work that Margaret has also been involved in for over the 30 years, that also qualified her for the Award she was given, includes; tutoring at Adult Literacy, tutoring English as a second Language, setting up and running a Youth Club, helping at a Children’s Club, setting up and running a Sunday School and Pathfinders, weighing babies at the Clinic, helping families with young children, taking library books to the housebound, Meals on Wheels, volunteer school reading helper, and she is a volunteer trained Christian Listener.
