GIFT AID MAKES CHARITABLE DONATIONS GO FURTHER

Since Fibromyalgia Association UK moved its operation to Stourbridge, West Midlands in early 1997 it has introduced many initiatives to help FMS sufferers, their families, friends and carers, as well as promoting research into the cause(s), effective treatments and possible cure of the illness. All of the work is administered by volunteers, most of whom have Fibromyalgia. Despite this being unpaid work, there are still a lot of costs which have to be met by the association in order to deliver the services that we offer. We need your financial help to be able to continue our work, and seek to improve the service that we offer.

If you, or any of your members, are Tax Payers and would like to make a donation to Fibromyalgia Association UK we would ask you to seriously consider using the Gift Aid Scheme when doing so. This scheme enables the Association to make the most of your donation. For every £1.00 you give FMA UK as gift aid, 28p is given back to our charity.

The Gift Aid Scheme was introduced by the Chancellor in the April 2000 budget. It simplifies charitable giving and replaces previous covenant schemes. It means that FMA UK can reclaim tax on donations of any size. This can boost our income considerably, providing donors give their consent to their donation being treated in this way. This is normally done by completing a very simple Gift Aid Declaration form which you can download and print. The form, together with the donation (cheques made payable to FMA UK), is then returned to FMA UK (Gift Aid), P O Box 206, Stourbridge, DY9 8YL. The donor does not have to take any further action. The Inland Revenue request form will be completed by us. However there are a few conditions. The donor must be giving his or her own money (as opposed to income from a bring & buy sale etc.) and must be a tax payer. If the donor pays tax at the higher rate, he or she can reclaim the difference between the basic rate and the higher rate by including it on their tax return.
