FM on Black Country local radio |
|
|
|
|
Below is a an excellent example of raising the profile of FM in your local community.Perhaps you can do something like this with local media in your area.
Black Country Group News
(L -> R) Judith Peace,Pam Stewart, Susanne Trueman and Ann Tee.
BCFMSG (Black County FM Support Group) recently got an afternoon slot on the local
radio station The Bridge 102.5FM.
Pam Stewart as member of BCFMSG, Susanne Trueman, Chair of group and Ann Tee ,
vice chair talked about Fibro and the group to presenter Pete Lines.
For BCFMSG it was their first encounter with media interviews of the live
kind. Judith Peace , Treasurer was also at the studio listening in and
taking many photos with her niece Emma-Claire Moorcroft, for the group
newsletter. More write up may get to the FAMILY magazine in due
course!

International Awareness Day Coffee Morning |
|
|
|
|
This meeting was held on 12th May 2008 from 10.00am to 12noon in the Atlee Suite, Portcullis House, Westminster, London.
This was not a formal meeting but a time for sufferers and MPs to meet to discuss the problems we encounter living with fibromyalgia. As MPs are very busy people, most were unable to stay for the whole two hours but took the opportunity to come and meet their constituents during part of the morning.
It was good to meet up with groups from around the country as well.Rob Wilson, MP for Reading East and Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Fibromyalgia welcomed everyone and said that he hoped there were awareness events taking place all over Europe today because fibromyalgia is one of the ‘Cinderellas’ of the health business.

The Ipswich Fibromyalgia Support Group are holding a charity day to raise awareness.
The event will take place on September 13th at The Lorraine Victory Hall, Ship Lane,
Bramford Village, near
Ipswich. There will be stalls, including craft, tombola, cakes and Gypsy Mel.
This is the first time the group have held such a big event and they have drafted in friends and family to help out. They have also let all members of the media know, from local papers to the local radio.
We hope everyone in the area can make it and don’t forget to tell all your family and friends too. It should be a great success and a wonderful way to get the word out and raise funds for the group as well.
