Chair

Information: I was voted onto the board of trustees of FMA UK in May2005 and became chair in Oct 2005, but I have been involved since 1997 when my husband Bob first became chair and the office was our dining room.

Since retiring from teaching, I have been able to spend more time working for FMA UK, attending meetings and conferences abroad as well as the UK, running the office and volunteers and supporting all our volunteers in the regions and local groups wherever possible.

In 2000 I was totally surprised by a letter informing me that I had been awarded an MBE for my work with adult students. The students themselves had nominated me and the visit to Buckingham Palace was a wonderful day to remember.

My two sons are living and working abroad, which means relaxing, exotic holidays in the sun when we’re not on one of our more adventurous trips like the one to Kilimanjaro for my 60th birthday. I have recently gained my PADI scuba diving certificate because there are plans to dive with sharks in the near future.

In any spare time I can find I enjoy going for long invigorating walks in the countryside, watching wildlife and gardening. I also belong to a choir and I find an evening singing a great way to unwind.
