FMA UK eMail Newsletter Jan 2010
1 Hi [FIRSTNAME],

Welcome to our second issue of our email newsletter, and thank you for all the positive comments so far. We hope with this newsletter and our magazine Fibromyalgia Focus, that we will be able to keep you up-to-date with fibromyalgia news no matter what format you prefer. Of course if you Twitter or Facebook then you can find us on there as well.

A regular part of our monthly newsletter will highlight what's coming up in the next issue of
Fibromyalgia Focus including an extract of some of the month's features. You will be able to see further extracts on the website and of course a subscription form as well. Are you a writer and interested in writing about fibromyalgia? Well you may be interested in entering EULAR's competition for the Edgar Stene Prize. Find out more below.

We also have an important announcement for those that are claiming Incapacity Benefit (IB) at present. The beginning of the government's delayed switch to Employment Support Allowance (ESA) will now be October 2010. No date has been given for how long it will take but it originally should have been for 4 years from 2009. Benefits and Work have said that they feel it could be 2015 before every case is transferred.

A quick thing to clear up, this email is sent from an unmonitored address so replies to this address will not reach us. However if you want to get in touch then check the bottom of this email for contact details. As well as what we have already mentioned, please have a look at some of the latest articles to be published on our website, a selection of which are below:

Magazine Features February 2010

feb2010

Why not settle down by a warming fire and get absorbed in the great features we have this month.
Our cover girl, singer/songwriter Shelly Quarmby, tells her heart wrenching story about her struggles with fibromyalgia and how her experiences have inspired her to release her first album: Change, the proceeds of which will be donated to FMA UK. Shelley writes:The lyrics were inspired by events in my life that became difficult to handle on top of having FM. I felt like I literally had no fuel to keep going, something would perk me up, but only for a while. I became frustrated with others, almost jealous because I couldn't be the best I knew I could be. So although I unite with all those other independent musicians performing today, I also identify with a group of people in the UK and across the world affected by fibromyalgia… Read more...

EULAR Edgar Stene Prize
Please see the information from Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA) in the attached link about this prize for writing about your life with fibromyalgia. Sorry for the short timescale but there is still time to enter before the end of January.....Read more...

a final word.........
With us half way through January, time is running out to purchase tickets for the Fibromyalgia Conference and Pamper Weekend in April. With this being the only conference planned for next year, if you can make it along I would heartily recommend it. A bit of pampering could be just the ticket. More info can be found here.

And speaking of time running out, there is still time to purchase Raffle tickets for the first prize of a trip to Malta.

Have you thought of attending a support group near you? To find your local support group click here, and if there is not a support group near you then why not join in on the busiest forum for fibromyalgia in the UK.
