What a fantastic story, which I must admit made me want to cry. I will certainly use it to try and explain to people. Thanks x

I can't tell you how true that sounds.  For the first time in 10 years I feel fortunate that I have fibromyalgia (thank god I don't have lupus!)

Now I can explain to my two lads what it is I have and how I will have to cope. It is so hard trying to explain. What a fantastic story. LynH

Suspected FM - plus SPD, HMS, OA - Confused yet?

I have just been told I may have FM and this explains just how I feel. I am also disabled through another condition and that also explained a lot about how I feel with that.

I have sent it to my husband, parents and family. I hope it makes it easier to explain why I struggle with the simple things sometimes, esspecially at the end of the day.

Thanks for posting it.

I have just read The Spoon Theory and I think its a great way to explain things to people. I know I get fed up explaining sometimes.

Wow. That was really good!

Quite sad though, but what a  good thing to show family and friends. It might make them understand a bit more.

Hi, I am new to this so not sure how to contribute, but I have just read the Spoon Theory and it was incredibly accurate.
I am blessed in that my husband, children and 1 of my siblings are brilliant at anticipating what I need, or how much free rein to allow me cos I get the tiniest bit stroppy when they say not to do this or that (stroppy, me!) but my other siblings think it's some kind of depression or laziness.
I was given this e-mail address by my GP who is great as well, I count myself as one of the really lucky ones.
Thank you for all the comments/forums/stuff I haven't looked at yet, it suddenly feels a lot less lonely,
Susiesea.

There are two other useful items on the Useful Information which may help explain how FM affects you...

Look for the Letter to Normals and a Simple Explanation of FM.

That "spoon theory" is such a superb way of explaining to people how it feels - trying to get that balance between how much you can and can't do every day. Brilliant! Thanks for that.  Smiley

Ok, it made me cry to, some of that for her and some of it for me, for the stuff I used to do that I'll never do again.
Me and the OH have motor bikes, and a couple of months ago mine had a problem just as we were going to work, so my OH told me to jump on the back of his and we'd look at mine in the morning, I just couldn't do it, I couldn't lift my leg high enough to clear the back rest and sit pillion. One more thing I cant do any more, my daughter gave me a lift in and Paul was still out side when I got there. I cried all over him, every thing I cant do any more seems to make my world a little smaller and so many people don't get it, they see the same crazy mare, saying and doing the same stuff, I think 'spoons' is a great way of explaining it to people
Thankyou.
