Survey: Do you experience Fibro Fog

My name is Sarah Marland; I am a mature student in my final year at Keele University, studying a Neuroscience and Psychology Dual Donors Degree. As part of my final year of study in the School of Psychology, I have designed a research project, titled ‘Cognition in Fibromyalgia’. I have chosen this as my area of research, as Fibromyalgia has had an influence on my family’s life since 2002 when my partner began to experience symptoms of the condition.

‘Fibro fog’ has been described as a frustrating blurring of mental clarity experienced by large numbers of fibromyalgia sufferers, for example;

“I had the remote control a minute ago, now where have I put it again?” or “I must turn the oven off at 3 o’clock,”.......... the time comes and you find yourself standing in the kitchen, knowing you came in for something? But what was it? Or that feeling when you’re trying to find the name of someone or something...... it’s right on the tip of your tongue .......but it just will not come. These are just a few examples of how ‘Fibro Fog’ could affect your day to day life.

I have designed a ‘Fibro Fog’ questionnaire as part of my research project, to collate and analyse data on the impact that ‘Fibro Fog’ has on your day to day life. This project has been approved by Keele University Ethics Committee and fulfils BPS ethical requirements. The aim of this research is to acquire a better understanding of this aspect of fibromyalgia and to expand an area of research that is of great clinical interest but at this time is considered to be relatively overlooked.

If you could spare 5 to 10 minutes of your time, and would like to help by participate in this research, simply click on the link below, where you will be taken to the short questionnaire.
