Role of Assistant Regional Coordinator

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Candidates wishing to apply for the position of Assistant RC would be expected to have had some managerial experience at local support group level or have been a local helpline volunteer. Ideally they should have a sound working knowledge of how FMA UK functions and be prepared to work as part of a team with RCs, fellow Assistant RCs and the Board of Trustees of FMA UK.

Role of the Assistant RC

  • To work alongside the existing RC in order to assimilate what the role entails, with the existing RC acting as a mentor.
  • To keep up to date by regularly checking the FMA UK website, e-mails or snail mail from the RC. The RC will keep them informed of any information deemed necessary for them to fulfil their role.
  • To uphold the FMA UK confidentiality policy at all times.

Assistant RC may be asked to:

  • Liaise with the regional group leaders and helpline volunteers that are in situ within easy travelling distance of them and to report back to the RC so as to keep the RC aware of what is taking place.
  • Liaise with the RC about the formation of new support groups/helplines in their catchment area. Once the new group has become established the assistant may be asked to act as mentor to the new group leader or helpline volunteer.
